英語表記看板

東山動植物園では現在さまざまな動物で英語や韓国語などの種名表記がなされています。しかし、動物に関する説明の英語表記はまだまだ遅れています。その中で、自然動物館2階に展示されている両生爬虫類の展示説明看板やポップ表記などを、英語に翻訳して、外国の方々にも動物に関して理解を深めてもらおうという試みを始めました。
英語が苦手な私ではこの取り組みが難しいので、名古屋大学の留学生（Global
30プログラム）の方々に教育研究の一環として、日本語表記を翻訳してもらい、英文化した看板制作に取り組んでもらうことになりました。
写真はその第一弾で、「シマヘビ」と「アオダイショウ」の説明看板を英文化したものです。これから、日本産両生爬虫類を中心に英語看板を徐々に設置していく予定です。
外国のお客様もWelcome!
There
are a lot of animal identification signs in Higashiyama zoo. But many signs are written in only
Japanese.
Therefore, we decided to make signs of some animals in English with students who
are joining in Global 30 Programs of Nagoya University.
The above photograph shows the
English signs of Japanese common snakes, “Shima-hebi” and “Aodaisyo”.
We will set other
English signs of, especially, Japanese reptiles and amphibians.
